How to Update an IPTV Playlist (M3U URL Guide)
Most IPTV apps automatically re-check your playlist URL periodically, but you don't always have to wait โ you can usually force a refresh manually, and in a few specific cases you'll need to re-enter your playlist details entirely.
Why you might need to update your playlist
- Your provider added new channels or removed dead ones and you want them to appear right away
- The EPG (program guide) data looks stale and hasn't refreshed on its own
- You renewed your subscription and were issued new credentials or a new M3U URL
How to manually refresh a playlist
- Open your IPTV app's settings or playlist management screen
- Look for an option named something like 'Refresh', 'Reload Playlist' or 'Update Channels'
- Confirm the action and wait for the app to re-index the channel list
- Browse the channel list to confirm new channels have appeared
If your app doesn't detect new channels
If a manual refresh doesn't pick up the changes, remove the playlist entirely and re-add it from scratch using the same M3U URL or Xtream Codes details. This forces a full re-download rather than an incremental update, and resolves most cases where a stale cache is the cause.
Updating on specific setups
- Desktop and mobile apps (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS) โ use the refresh or reload option described above
- MAG boxes โ restarting the box is usually enough, since it re-syncs with the portal automatically on boot
- Enigma2 receivers โ use the IPTV plugin's own reload option rather than restarting the whole receiver
Troubleshooting
Refreshed, but channels are still missing
Confirm your subscription is still active before assuming the refresh itself failed โ an expired subscription can look identical to a stuck refresh from the app's side.
The refresh option is missing or greyed out
Update the app itself to the latest version first; an outdated app occasionally loses access to its own refresh function until it's updated.
