Most IPTV subscriptions let you connect in one of two ways: a single M3U playlist URL, or an Xtream Codes login made up of a username, password and server address. Both reach the same channels — the difference is in how your app handles them day-to-day.

• Setup fields — M3U is one field to paste; Xtream Codes is three fields to enter correctly (username, password, server address)
• Switching devices — both are equally portable; you re-enter the same details on a new device or app either way

Which one should you use

If your app supports Xtream Codes login, it's usually the better day-to-day experience because of the fuller EPG and category browsing. Fall back to the M3U link if you're using a general media player like VLC, or if your preferred IPTV app only supports playlist URLs.
